The contemporary office design features an open-space interior
design. Most of the reasons behind it is the rapid expansion of new technology
that allows us to communicate and work with less restrictions than ever before.
Although there are plenty advantages of an open-plan workspace, including
increased flexibility, collaboration, creativity, there are some disadvantages
also.
People who work in open-space office complain that they are distracted
much easier and more often by their colleagues, moreover, employees say that
the lack of privacy affects their work effectiveness also. In order to deal
with such issues, some organizations have thus created special spaces in the
offices where employees can work on their own without any distraction. For
example, one of the new Coca-Cola's offices in London, have considered the negative
aspects of hot-desking and designed their offices in a way that each employee
has its own desk. As a result, it should provide employees with more privacy
and less distractions, while there are plenty of room and offices that a
designed for collaborative work.
Thus, the number of organizations that consider the well-being and effectiveness of its employees regarding the workspace is increasing. It seems that there is a probability that the contemporary office design that features 'hot-desking' will slightly turn back to a more 'traditional' office style.
