Sometimes changing only a few decorations in your room might result in an instant style update and make your room look fresh. Whether it is a rug, vase or just some flowers, you will see the change. Of course, the location of where it is going to be located in your room will also make an impact.
But today I'm going to talk specifically about home accessories - lighting. Lighting can determine the warmth of your wall colour, especially if you have dark painted walls. Here are few things you should consider before updating your interiors with a new lamp:
What other purpose other than 'style update' will your new lamp serve?
Decide what functionality the lamp will provide. Whether it is for tasks such as reading and writing, or just a lamp that will give an accent and, of course, will serve its purpose, but won't be needed to be as bright.
What size you want your new lampshade to be?
I would always suggest to go big, as it is more likely to make a significant difference in your room. But if you decide to go small, having a few small lamps might look just as great and significant.
What colour is it going to be?
You can choose a colour of your new lamp based on colours of some of home decors you've already own, for example, cushions, curtains or other home accessories. However, it is not always about colour - it is also about material. If you know that your room is already quite colourful, you may go for material and texture. It might help to avoid your room looking too full.
Since I am so passionate about lampshades, I've decided to make some myself. And here I can share my projects with you:
